So-called Jute Batching Oil (short: JBO) is used in the production process of jute ropes. The use of oil is necessary to make the jute fibres supple and to ensure better cohesion of the fibres. In many cases a mineral oil is used for this purpose.

For the Kanirope jute rope J-TWIST, however, only vegetable oils are used for batching the jute. This has many advantages: On the one hand it is more sustainable and better for the environment. On the other hand, the use of vegetable JBO also has advantages for the jute rope: oil residues still in the rope are of purely vegetable origin. The jute rope is therefore much more odourless and does not smell of mineral oil or "petrochemicals". Possible harmful effects of mineral oil residues are excluded.
