Petzl Professional Rope Clamps
In this category you will find rope clamps for various applications such as ascending the rope (single and double strand), use as a return stop in a pulley system or for setting up pulley systems. Different types of rope clamps are used for this purpose: Hand ascenders, chest ascenders in combination with a hand ascender, foot ascenders and auxiliary rope clamps. The accessories required or optional for the rope clamps can also be found in this category.
Type of rope clamp | Description | Article |
Hand ascender | Suitable for ascending the rope with two rope clamps. The rope clamp forms the "safety backup" and is thus part of the safety chain. The advantages of the hand ascender are easy handling and facilitation of the ascent. | ASCENSION, ASCENTREE |
Chest ascender | Suitable for rope ascents when used with a hand ascender. The chest ascender is part of the belay chain and facilitates the ascent. | CROLL |
Foot ascender | The foot ascender is used exclusively as a climbing aid and should always be used in conjunction with a hand ascender or chest ascender. The advantages of the foot ascender are support when using special climbing techniques (e.g. climbing stairs) and relief during long ascents (prevents rapid fatigue). | PANTIN |
Auxiliary rope clamp | The auxiliary rope clamp is a rope clamp in minimal form. It can be used to reach belays that are longer than the actual rope. Furthermore, a makeshift rope clamp can be used to secure the exit from a route or also to set up a pulley system. | TIBLOC |

EN 12841 type B
This European Standard applies to rope setting devices intended for use in rope access systems. This standard specifies requirements, test methods, marking and manufacturer's information. Rope access devices complying with this European Standard may be designed for use by one person or, in the case of rescue, for simultaneous use by two persons.

EN 12841 type B tests the rope adjusting device and is defined by the following characteristics:
- Manually operated rope setting device which, when attached to a working rope, locks under load in one direction and slides freely in the opposite direction. Type B rope adjustment devices shall withstand a force of 4 kN for 3 min on a suspension device with a stop knot.
- The minimum service load is determined by means of the slip, which must be less than 100 mm for type B.
-
The following markings are mandatory for the manufacturer to affix to the product:
- Manufacturer
- EN 12841
- Model designation
- Batch number
- Year of manufacture
- Smallest and largest diameter of the rope in mm

NFPA
NFPA stands for National Fire Protection Association and is a US standard for fire protection. NFPA publishes a comprehensive set of fire protection regulations (National Fire Codes) that are mainly used in the USA.
EAC
With the EAC marking, the manufacturer, distributor or authorized representative declares that the product, which is placed on the market for the first time in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, complies with the applicable safety requirements specified in the Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union. If the conformity test is successful, then the products must be marked with the EAC conformity mark. EAC is an abbreviation for Eurasian Conformity. It is similar in content to the European CE mark.
