In this category you will find speleo ropes that can be used in speleology for independent technical caving, caving research or speleology. These are semi-static kernmantel ropes with low elongation according to the EN 1891 standard, which allow access from top to bottom with the help of abseiling devices and from bottom to top when using ascenders. Speleo ropes must never be used for belaying when lead climbing, as a possible fall could result in such a high impact force that serious injuries and material failure are the consequence. The term static rope is often heard in everyday use, but it is very misleading because there is stretch (max. 5%). Even if the elongation is very low compared to a dynamic rope - the term semi-static rope or low elongation kernmantle rope is officially correct.
